Papaya Juicing Recipes
Congratulations on your juicer!
Now that you have one, what should you make with it?
As you think through your favorite fruits and veggies and start hunting through different ideas online, I’d like to point your attention to papaya juicing recipes.
Not only are papayas delicious, but they also produce a very healthy juice!
Read on to discover not only how to make the juice, but more in depth information on papaya juice.
Is Papaya A Melon?
First, let’s consider what a papaya is.
Is papaya a melon like many people consider it to be?
Can you guess what it is?
It’s considered a type of berry!
I know, I know…not what I would have thought either. But regardless, that’s what it’s classified as.
So, papayas are considered to be family to strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries…you name a berry, it’s family to the papaya.
Other than now knowing what a papaya’s family is, do you know much about papayas?
If you were in a grocery store, could you pick one out without needing to look at the name of the fruit?
If you’re not familiar with it, papayas are a soft, large, orange colored fruit with lots of dark seeds in its center.
The fruit itself is sweet, although not overly so. It is somewhat similar to a cantaloupe in flavor.
The seeds inside taste somewhat similar to black pepper. The seeds aren’t usually eaten, but on occasion, people will eat them for the health characteristics they have.
They’re actually considered helpful in getting rid of parasites so if you ever have the misfortune of having that problem, keep papayas in mind!
How to Make Papaya Juice
One excellent way to use papayas is to make papaya juice.
After all, sometimes it’s easier to drink a bunch of fruit rather than to eat the fruit.
But if you decide you want to drink papaya juice, how do you go about making the juice?
There are many papaya juicing recipes.
The fruit is very soft so it is quite easy to handle. No worries about having to cut a really hard fruit! In fact, be careful as you’re cutting it. The fruit is so soft that it could be easy to accidentally apply too much pressure to it and slice your finger instead. That wouldn’t be good!
Since the fruit is not overly sweet, you may want to mix it with another sweeter fruit to add more of the expected sweet flavor of fruit juice.
Of course, this is completely up to you!
If you prefer a juice that’s not very sweet, you can skip the step of adding additional fruit.
If you’re like me though and do prefer a sweeter juice, adding other types of fruit with the papaya is a great way to do it.
One way to make a sweetened but still healthy papaya juice is this:
- Peel, seed, and chop a papaya up into chunks
- Peel and cut a pineapple into cubes (don’t use the core)
- Put both through a juice extractor
- Enjoy your freshly made juice!
Papaya is very full of both fiber and water.
Fiber and water are very important when you want to lose weight in a healthy way.
Because of the natural attributes of the fruit, and because it doesn’t have a large amount of sugar in it, it is an excellent choice to fill up on when you’re trying to lose weight.
Instead of eating lots of calorically dense foods, try eating more papaya. You should see an increase in health and a decrease in weight! Just be sure you eat enough of a variety of other foods so you get all the nutrients you need.
If you have a hard time eating lots of papayas, one way to incorporate more in your diet is blending it into a papaya smoothie for weight loss.
You could even include other veggies or fruits in the smoothie to get even more nutrients. The papaya drink would be an excellent way to improve your health.
And, if you have problems drinking a lot (am I the only one who doesn’t drink enough?!), I suggest drinking the juice or smoothie with a straw. For whatever reason, straws tend to help people drink more without even realizing it.
And on a side note, if you’re trying to lose weight, definitely drink lots of water as well!
Water is very helpful in the journey to having a good healthy weight.
Papaya Juicing Benefits
So what are the benefits of papaya juice?
As mentioned, papayas can help with weight loss.
But, that’s not all papayas are good for:
Papayas have several different vitamins.
Particularly, the fruit is a great source of vitamin C and E, and it also has plenty of folates. The combination of those can actually help calm motion sickness!
If you’re planning on driving on some roads up a mountain with lots of turns, bringing along some papaya juice might help you keep from feeling sick! I, for one, do get motion sickness so I’ll have to find some papaya juice before my next drive up a mountain. Just be sure you have a good lid on your cup if you do that…no one wants papaya juice spilled all over their car after going around any particularly sharp turns!
The fiber in papayas also aids in digestion. If you’ve been having digestion problems, you may want to try eating and drinking papaya to see if that helps before trying some sort of medicine. It’s a very helpful, healthy fruit!
As you hunt through different papaya juicing recipes, try to choose recipes that include several different types of fruits and vegetables in order to include the nutrients you need in your diet.
The more variety you have in the types of fruits and vegetables you choose to eat and drink, the more likely you are to be getting all the nutrients your body needs.
It can be difficult getting all the vitamins needed to stay healthy, especially when you’re trying to lose weight!
You need to make sure when you’re on a diet you’re cutting out the bad food but not cutting out the good food. If you lose weight only to then get sick from not having enough nutrients that won’t do you any good!
Below are some ideas of different combinations you could try for healthy and delicious papaya juice.
- Papaya, pineapple, and spinach juice
- Papaya, carrot, orange, and ginger juice
- Papaya, carrot, and lime juice
- Papaya and peach juice
- Papaya, blueberry, and mango juice
- Papaya, spinach, mango, and pineapple juice
- Papaya and apple juice
And those are just a few of the juice combinations you can make!
Even if you don’t see a recipe that’s exactly how you want it, feel free to experiment and try different things. If you have a favorite fruit, try combining that with papaya and see how it tastes.
Or, if you’re walking around a grocery store or market and see a new fruit you haven’t tried, try adding that with the papaya.
Who knows? You may find a new favorite juice!
And, don’t be afraid to mix spinach in with your juice! Yes, it’ll probably make it look a bit green. However, you’d be surprised how well fruit can mask the taste of spinach. As long as you don’t mind the green color, the taste is surprisingly good and it’s an easy way to get more veggies into your diet!
If you have children you’re feeding, try giving them some papaya juice with spinach. If they see you really excited to drink it and you tell them it’s a special green juice, they might be more willing than you’d think to give it a try. And, once they’ve tried it, they’ll likely want more! I’ve personally known several children who absolutely loved smoothies with spinach thrown in. They didn’t care about the color, they just wanted the “yummy tasting juice!”
Or, if the children you’re taking care of don’t like the color, consider putting the juice in a cup that isn’t see through. If they can’t see the juice, they may find out they like it and then, when they eventually see the color, not mind since they already know it tastes good.
Either way, though, whether kids drink the juice or not, you should be drinking it! It really is delicious and it’s a great way to improve your health. I would suggest slowly adding papaya juice into your diet until you’re used to it. And then just keep drinking it as a normal part of your day. Soon it’ll be a habit!
Healthy habits are easier than you might think to form, and they have great long lasting value. And often, if you start doing a new healthy habit and you tell others that you can get someone else to do it with you.
So go do it!
And happy papaya juicing!
