21 Best Masticating Juicers – Cold-press Juicer Reviews
I have to say, masticating juicers, also known as cold-press juicers, are definitely my favorite type of juicer.
Centrifugal juicers still have their place and I’ve definitely enjoyed the juice I’ve had from them, but for me, masticating juicers are the clear winners.
If you read through masticating juicer reviews you’ll start to see what I mean! One user after another after another excitedly touts the amazingness of their masticating juicer.
You might be wondering, why is this kind of juicer so great?
After all, it’s important to understand the difference between juicers before purchasing one!
We could spend a very long time on it, but I’ll do my best to summarize everything.
Basically, there are two main types of juicers. They are centrifugal juicers and masticating juicers.
Centrifugal juicers are like blenders.
They chop up the ingredients really fine, and then they press the chopped food against a piece of mesh. From there, juice flows out for you to drink.
It’s quick and it’s convenient.
They’re often about as loud as a blender though so that is a downside.
Also, because centrifugal juicers are so quick, a lot of air is blended into the juice. As the air is blended in, some of the nutrients die right then and there. Some wait a bit longer, but the juice will go bad rather quickly.
Also, centrifugal juicers heat up a bit because of the speed of the blade. The heat will also kill nutrients.
Masticating juicers, on the other hand, work more like your mouth than a blender.
These slow juicers slowly “chew” the ingredients instead of chopping them up.
Then, once the food has been “chewed” it is pressed against a piece of mesh (similar to centrifugal juicers). The juice comes out for you to drink after that.
Since masticating juicers are on the slower side, they don’t put half as much air into the juice that they produce.
Also, since they don’t chop up the ingredients quickly like centrifugal juicers, they don’t heat up. The lack of heat means that more nutrients survive to stay in the juice and benefit your health.
Also, masticating juicers are often quieter because of their slow nature.
To summarize, masticating juicers make juice in a healthier way than centrifugal juicers.
To me, that is the biggest benefit.
After all, if you’re going to be making juice, either way, you might as well make the healthiest juice you can!
But how do you choose a masticating juicer to buy? There are a lot out there!
No one wants to spend hours and hours searching through all the juicers to figure out which is best.
I’ve already done the work for you.
This guide will cover my 21 favorite masticating juicers.
All you have to do is put your feet up and read through until you’ve found your favorite!
#1. Omega Nutrition Center Juicer
We’re starting off with a good one!
This juicer is a number 1 best seller on amazon with over 3,000 reviews!
That’s a good sign!
As you read down through the reviews, you’ll start to understand why.
This one comes in 8 beautiful colors and operates at a low speed to avoid any heat, foaming, or clogging.
It’s also quiet so if you’re an early riser and want to juice while your family is still sleeping, now you can!

One thing this juicer is particularly good at is juicing different leaves.
I’ve seen several different commercial juicers that make great juice from greens, but obviously, if you’re at home you may not want a juicer that is designed more for a restaurant or bar.
However, this nicely sized juicer compares very well to the best commercial juicer for leafy greens.
If you want a good home juicer that is effective getting juice out of wheatgrasses, kale, cabbage, spinach, and even pine tree needles, this would be a great choice for you!

Also, this juicer is on the slow side.
Slow is healthy so I’m definitely not against the idea of a slow juicer. However, it’s best to just use this juicer for making juice for one or possibly two people. More people that that would be difficult since the juicer would take quite a bit of time doing it.
#3. Breville Fountain Crush Masticating Slow Juicer
If you enjoy making juice from soft fruits and vegetables this would be an excellent choice for you.
This juicer also includes the ability to control the direction (reverse) so if fruits or veggies to start to clog it’s easy for you to dislodge them.
If you do end up having any problems cleaning out the chute, I suggest using the back end of the included brush. Just be sure the juicer is turned off!
This one comes with a 1-year limited warranty.
One particularly nice feature about this juicer is that it is vertical so you can fill a large pitcher (enough for two glasses at once!).

#6. Omega 5th Generation Nutrition Center Juicer
Does this one look familiar?
If you remember, our 1st juicer listed was actually quite similar. This juicer is a newer version of that one.
Some people prefer the old one, however, the new one definitely isn’t one to overlook. It has all the benefits of the old one while adding some new features.
For example, this new one has 5 adjustable speed settings so you can have maximum juice output.
Also, this one has a bigger chute making it easier to feed the ingredients into the machine.

Its manufacturers pride themselves in this machine’s ability to make more juice and less waste out of the ingredients than many other juicers can do. This one is especially good at getting you all the nutrients possible out of the fruits and vegetables you feed into it.
It is not made from grinding nuts like some of the previously mentioned juicers so do note that if that’s a function that’s important to you, this isn’t your best choice. However, if you don’t care to grind nuts, this is definitely a good option!
#11. Super Angel Twin Gear Juicer
If you read the masticating juicer reviews for this machine, you’ll see that its users are very impressed! It is very good at juicing leafy greens and herbs and is also quite excellent in the normal fruit and vegetable department. You can make pretty much any kind of juice you want!
This machine can also make soymilk, nut butter, and seed juice if you are so inclined. It is not the best at making sorbet, however, so don’t buy this one if that is what you’re wanting to do. The juice is delicious! There is a bit of pulp in the juice, but overall it is smooth and clean tasting. Goodness, that was a lot of juicers! And that’s saying something since that was only a small handful of the juicers available in the market today. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by a number of machines available, though. If you’re reading this, you’ve likely decided to buy a masticating juicer. If that’s true, then congratulations! You’ve narrowed it down considerably already just through that one decision. To help you process everything you’ve read, here are a few things to consider as you think back over all the juicers you’ve read a summary about.
- Consider whether you want a juicer that is horizontal or vertical. Often the vertical ones are a tad bit faster (simply because of gravity pulling the ingredients downward). Also, the vertical juicers can usually have a fairly large pitcher sitting below them making it a bit easier to make larger amounts of juice with them.
- Another thing to consider is the color. True, color doesn’t change the performance of the juicer, but the more you enjoy looking at the machine, the more excited you’ll be to use it. It’s definitely good to have all the encouragement you can get in juicing and being healthy! Also, you want to get a juicer that you feel fits with your kitchen. If it looks nice sitting out, you’ll probably leave it out rather than storing it away. If you leave it out, you’ll be more likely to use it more often!
- And, one last big thing to consider is what the juicer can process. If you want to make wheatgrass juice, for example, you need a juicer that does well handling that type of food. Also, if you want it to make nut butter, baby food, or sorbet you need to be sure your juicer can do that. There’s nothing worse than assuming a machine can do something only to realize later after you bought it that it never had that capability!
Whichever juicer you end up buying, I’m sure it will be a healthy, welcome new addition to your life. If you juice regularly, I know you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the way juice can change you. Getting all the nutrients you need, drinking more fluids, and having some additional fiber in your diet is so so good for you and your overall health and wellbeing. It’s great that you’re taking the step to take care of yourself by buying a machine that can help you improve your life!
I hope this guide was helpful! Have fun shopping around and of course, happy juicing!
